Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI)
The Initiative
CSCI facilitates the development of inclusive and equitable climate resilience plans and projects across the country through a competitive grant making program, matching candidate communities with climate practitioners, a dynamic training program, and, coming soon, a knowledge sharing platform. The initiative is committed to assisting the communities that are on the front lines of the climate crisis, and advancing nature based solutions.

CSCI is managed by a consortium of partners, including CRF, EcoAdapt, Fernleaf, Geos Institute, ICF, and the Environment, Equity and Justice Center at NRDC, working closely with the Climate Program Office of NOAA. The initiative is made possible by funding under the Inflation Reduction Act as part of the federal government’s approach to the climate crisis.
